Accelerating Growth and Increased Impact

Dear Equiticity Community,

Good day, and trust all is well for you and your extended family.

With this fundraising communication, I will share a brief update on The Equiticity Racial Equity Movement, introduce you to our Senior Leadership Team, and kindly ask for your financial support.

Equiticity has evolved and experienced accelerated growth over the past several years. We now have 13 full-time staff, inclusive of a Cross Pillars Team and a Senior Leadership Team. We now have senior managers leading each of our five focus areas (research, advocacy, programs, Community Mobility Rituals, and social enterprises), a Senior Director of Operations leading our functional areas (HR, accounting, operations, etc.), and a Senior Director of Development leading our fundraising strategies.

With Equiticity's accelerating growth and increased impact, my leadership has transitioned to being less tactical and now more focused on high level vision, strategy, and development. We are implementing new internal systems and operating procedures to ensure Equiticity continues to grow our work and our impact both in Chicago and at the national and global levels. We continue to maintain a powerhouse National Board of Directors, working closely together to continue moving Equiticity toward achieving our vision and mission as a racial equity movement transforming our society.

Please meet my colleagues on Equiticity’s Senior Leadership Team:

  • Ellen Partridge – Senior Advisor, Mobility Innovation | ellen@equiticiy.org

    • "Equiticity's research underpins our advocacy work. As we think about advocacy, we think about: What persuades people? Compelling stories. Lived experiences backed up by data and emotional connections through our Community Mobility Rituals and our Programs. The stories people in our communities tell about their lived experiences are powerful instruments of change."

  • Jose Manuel Almanza – Director of Advocacy & Movement Building | jose@equiticity.org

    • "We advocate for racial equity, mobility justice, and environmental justice. With a clear focus on systems change, our advocacy vehicles for transforming our society include mobilization, politicization, activation, and organization. Through harnessing our collective power, we move both policymakers and their policies to operationalize racial equity and evoke systems change."

  • Remel Terry – Director of Programs | remel@equiticity.org

    • "My passion for my people is genuine, and I demonstrate that in action. I have all the thoughts, opinions, and judgements (as most do). For me, that reflects the requirement to act."

  • Brandon Goodall – Director of Community Mobility Rituals | brandon@equiticity.org

    • "We foster community trust through ritualizing mobility events in our neighborhoods. By promoting active exploration and prioritizing socialization, racialized healing, and collective ownership through Community Mobility Rituals, we create vibrant and connected streets, ultimately contributing to a safer, more cohesive community."

  • Jacob Klink - Social Enterprise Fellow | jacob@equiticity.org

    • "Wealth and opportunity are two of some of the most elusive underpinnings for racial equity. Social enterprise offers a key to the marketplace, promising a path to capitalize change through the tenacity, brilliance, and ingenuity of the community."

  • Cecily Langford – Senior Director of Operations | cecily@equiticity.org

    • "As a racial equity movement, Equiticity is developing concrete racial equity and anti-racist organizational practices. We value transparency, balance, and “feedback as love” accountability in the fight to dismantle structural racism. Through our collective genius and shared wisdom, we lift up free and unhindered mobility for Black, Brown, and Indigenous people."

  • Bonnie Scarlett-Logan – Senior Director of Development | bonnie@equiticity.org

    • "Structural transformation requires transformational investments. We strive to engage hearts and minds to create real community change."

Equiticity's talented and committed Senior Leadership Team provides me with the space and capacity to focus on our long term vision, strategic planning, and achieving financial sustainability.

A clear vision, a concrete strategy, and sustainable financial resources are key ingredients in Equiticity's continued accelerating growth and increased impact.

Please consider any or all of the following opportunities to support our work:

  2. Join our fundraising council.

  3. Partner with us.

We also welcome inquiries regarding higher levels of philanthropy, such as planned giving, major gifts, establishing an endowment, corporate sponsorships, and foundation grants.

Thank you all, let’s continue building together.

Warm regards,

Oboi
